These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern access to and use of SocialTrust (“Service”), the social-proof platform operated at socialtrust.io (including our marketing site, dashboard, APIs, and customer-facing widget). By creating an account, clicking to accept, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. Who we are
References to “SocialTrust”, “we”, “us”, or “our” mean the operator of the SocialTrust Service at socialtrust.io. Contact: support@socialtrust.io. Privacy matters: privacy@socialtrust.io.
If you use the Service on behalf of a business, you confirm you have authority to bind that business, and “you” includes that business.
2. The Service
SocialTrust provides software that helps online stores display social-proof notifications (for example verified purchases, live traffic, scarcity, reviews, and lead signals) via an embeddable widget, dashboard configuration, store integrations, and related APIs.
We may improve, change, or discontinue features where reasonably necessary. Material reductions to a paid plan’s core functionality will be communicated in advance where practicable. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability; scheduled maintenance and third-party outages may occur.
3. Accounts and eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract.
- You must provide accurate account information and keep credentials secure.
- You are responsible for activity under your account, including users you invite and sites you connect.
- One person or organisation should not create multiple free accounts to evade plan limits.
4. Plans, billing, and trials
Plan limits (sites, monthly impressions, branding, and features) are described on our pricing page and enforced in the Service. Fees for paid plans are charged in GBP as shown at checkout. Applicable taxes (including VAT) may be added based on your location.
Payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers. Paid subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Where a free trial is offered, we will state its length at signup or checkout; unless stated otherwise, cancel before the trial ends to avoid charges.
You may cancel a paid plan from the dashboard billing controls or by contacting support. Cancellation stops future renewals; unless required by law, we do not provide mid-cycle pro-rata refunds after a billing period has started. Consumers in the UK/EEA may have additional statutory rights (including cooling-off rights for distance contracts); nothing in these Terms removes rights that cannot be excluded by law.
5. Your content and store data
You retain ownership of content and data you submit or connect to the Service (“Customer Content”), including site settings, product catalogues, imported reviews, order/lead payloads from your store integrations, and configuration you choose to display in the widget.
You grant SocialTrust a worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, process, transmit, and display Customer Content solely to provide, secure, and improve the Service (including generating notification feeds and analytics for your account).
You represent that you have all rights and notices required to send us Customer Content and to display social-proof messages derived from it on your websites, including lawful bases and disclosures for personal data of your shoppers and leads.
6. Widget on your websites
When you install our snippet or loader, the widget may load from our servers, request configuration and feeds, and send event telemetry (for example impressions, clicks, page views, sales, and lead signals) associated with your site ID. You are responsible for placing the snippet only on sites you control and for configuring geo, lead, and display behaviour appropriately for your audience and laws.
7. Acceptable use
You must not, and must not allow others to:
- Use the Service to display false, fabricated, or misleading social proof, fake scarcity, or deceptive urgency.
- Violate applicable laws (including consumer-protection, advertising, privacy, and anti-spam rules).
- Probe, scan, or attack our systems; reverse engineer the Service except as allowed by law; or circumvent plan limits or security controls.
- Resell, white-label, or provide the Service to third parties as your own product without our written consent.
- Upload malware or unlawful, infringing, or abusive content.
- Interfere with other customers’ use of the Service.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach this section, with or without notice where we reasonably believe harm is imminent.
8. Third-party services
The Service may integrate with third parties you choose (for example Shopify, WooCommerce, Stripe Checkout, Trustpilot, Google reviews, and geo-IP providers). Those services are governed by their own terms. We are not responsible for third-party outages, policy changes, or data handling outside our control.
9. Intellectual property
SocialTrust and its licensors own the Service, software, branding, documentation, and related IP. These Terms grant you a limited, non-transferable, non-exclusive right to use the Service for your internal business purposes during your subscription, subject to plan limits. No other rights are granted.
10. Confidentiality
Each party may receive non-public information from the other. The receiving party will use reasonable care to protect it and use it only for purposes of the relationship, except for information that is public, independently developed, or required to be disclosed by law.
11. Privacy and data protection
Our Privacy Policy explains how we process personal data. For store visitor and order-related data that we process on your instructions through the widget and integrations, you are typically the controller and we act as your processor. For your account and billing data, we act as a controller. You must have a lawful basis to collect and display shopper/lead information.
12. Disclaimer
Except as required by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not warrant that notifications will produce any particular conversion rate, that feeds will be complete or real-time in all cases, or that the Service will be error-free. You remain responsible for your storefront content, pricing, fulfilment, and customer communications.
13. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, SocialTrust’s total aggregate liability arising out of or related to the Service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of (a) the fees you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) £100.
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages; lost profits, revenue, goodwill, or data; or business interruption, even if advised of the possibility, except where liability cannot be limited by law.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
14. Indemnity
You will defend and indemnify SocialTrust against claims, damages, and reasonable costs arising from your Customer Content, your websites, your misuse of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law, except to the extent caused by our wilful misconduct.
15. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account subject to any outstanding fees. We may suspend or terminate access for non-payment, abuse, legal risk, or material breach. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends. We may delete or anonymise Customer Content after a reasonable period, subject to legal retention needs and our Privacy Policy.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date will change, and for material changes we will provide notice by email or in-product notice where reasonable. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Service and cancel any paid subscription.
17. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence where they apply.
